
In October
1992, the Foundation gave birth to DIBIT, an institute dedicated
to basic research. The criteria applied in the development of DIBIT
were the most open and competitive ever used in Italy. Scientists
coming from various backgrounds, in Italy and abroad, were selected
based on their scientific qualifications and their direct interest
in joining this novel initiative
